Itinerary

After meeting your professional English-speaking guide at the scheduled time, you'll begin your walking tour of Jaisalmer at night. Explore its magnificent yellow sandstone fortress, one of the world's only living forts, and home to a quarter of the city's population. Beautiful in daylight, this massive 12th century citadel is even more spectacular at night, when illuminations give its crumbling walls the golden hue for which the city is nicknamed. An unforgettable sight!

Throughout your tour, your guide will entertain you with fascinating stories and secrets surrounding the different places you'll visit. Learn about the history of the Rani Ka Mahal and the Raja Ka Mahal, the queen's and king's palaces, and about Surya Mandir, a 500-year-old temple devoted to the Hindu sun god.

Next you'll visit the Jain Temples found inside the ancient fortress. Built from the same soft golden stone, this maze of seven intricately carved sacred shrines dates back to the 15th and 16th centuries. For the finishing touch on your evening walking tour of Jaisalmer, you'll wander through the fort to the viewpoint, from which you'll have one of the best views over the city.
