Bari Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
To kick off this free walking tour of Bari, we’ll meet at the designated time in front of the Petruzzelli Theater. Did you know it’s the largest in the city and one of the most important in Italy? Here, we’ll go over a brief introduction before heading into its fascinating historic center.
Now that the introductions are out of the way, we’ll walk to Piazza del Ferrarese, also known as Plaza de Armas. From there, we’ll head to another of the most important squares in the capital of Apulia, Piazza Mercantile, the gateway to Bari’s historic center, or Bari Vecchia. There, we’ll take a close look at all the details of the Column of Justice.
The next stop on our free tour will be the Basilica of Saint Nicholas. Could this figure have anything to do with Santa Claus? We’ll continue wandering through the streets of the old town until we reach the Cathedral of Saint Sabinus, the oldest church in Bari. We’ll admire its impressive white façade while discovering its best-kept secrets.
After a stop to admire the imposing Castle of Bari, with its massive walls built by the Normans, we’ll head down Strada delle Orecchiette. Ready to learn how the city’s most traditional fresh pasta is made by hand?
After about 2 hours on the free tour, we’ll say goodbye near Piazza Massari. See you soon!
